1. Bending forward
Forward flexion of the lower back can be a rather compromising position for the muscles and joints that are already quite irritated. Dependent on what type of pain is being experienced and at what stage, bending at the knees rather than bending forward may be a more pain-free alternative!
2. Sitting for long periods
Prolonged periods of sitting is very common in a multitude of occupations and hobbies. Unfortunately, sitting coupled with poor posture can hold the lower back in an unsustainable position resulting in further irritation through the affected area.
3. Heavy lifting
Even with the use of proper lifting technique, sustained heavy and repetitive movement can apply undue stress through the lower back. If absolutely necessary, asking for assistance is a safer alternative to lifting something by yourself.
